BUSINESS INFORMATION VISUALIZATION
Background:
Business Information Visualization (BIV) can be defined as the use of computer-supported interactive visual representations of business data to amplify cognition, achieve better data, business, and behavior understanding to improve decision making and business impact (Bačić and Fadlala 2016). One important step in the use of BIV in decision making deals with the way users ‘consume’ data through visual display. Business dashboards and other visually intensive Business Intelligence applications are cognitive tools requiring users to deploy various levels of cognition and effort. Due to this impact on cognition and effort, the design of business information display has a potential to influence users’ responses. In this research stream, we evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of business information visualizations by evaluating user responses to representation methods (histograms, tables, bar charts, bullet graphs, etc.), representation elements (color, text, symbols, size, etc.) and representation layout/position.
